How to Roast Garlic

By Saad Fayed, About.com

Many recipes call for roasted garlic. Yes, you purchase at the store, but for the ultimate, fresh taste, roast it yourself. Roasting garlic is much easier than you think!

How to Roast Garlic

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Remove cloves of garlic from bulb. Do not peel.
  3. Lightly coat garlic cloves in olive oil.
  4. Place cloves on cookie sheet that has a light olive oil coating.
  5. Roast for 15 minutes or until garlic is soft.
  6. Allow garlic to cool and remove the skins.

If not using immediately, place in airtight container with just enough olive oil to cover in the refrigerator. Roasted garlic will keep for about a week.
