Can You Freeze Stuffed Grape Leaves?

By , About.com Guide

Question: Can You Freeze Stuffed Grape Leaves?

Answer: I bet you would not guess it, but the answer is yes! Grape leaves can be frozen, and I do it often so that I always have them on hand.

I recommend stuffed grape leaves to be cooked before they are frozen. The taste is much better when thawed! Simply cook, allow to completely cool, then place in freezer bag or freezer safe container. Drizzle with olive oil and place in freezer for up to six months.

To reheat grape leaves from freezer, allow to thaw completely in refrigerator. Then, simply steam them on the stove top (recommended) or cook in microwave (for a quick fix).
