Saddam's Sabres

Saad Fayed
The sabres were constructed to honor the victory of Iraq in the Iraq-Iran War. The arches are known as "The Hands of Victory. Two identical arches stand, marking entrance and exit to an area where Saddam Hussein often gave speeches. [br][br]Surrounded by each of the arches wrist are several Iranian army helmets, gathered during the war. It is said that the arms of the arches were made in the likeness of Saddam's own forearms.
