Arabic Name and Pronunciation: Jouza al-Teeb, pronounced joosa-al-teeb. May also be called basbasa, jouza at-Teeb, josat at-Tib, josat al-Tib, jowz buwwa
Origin: Indonesia and grenanda are the largest cultivators of nutmeg.
Taste: Nutmeg has a citrus flavor, with an earthy tone.
Buying Nutmeg: Nutmeg is light brown when its ground. The aroma should be strong, yet pleasant. You may also find it shaved.
Uses : Worldwide, nutmeg is used primarily in sweet, dessert foods. However, in Middle Eastern cooking, you will find it in many meat dishes, as well.
