Turkey Kofta

By Saad Fayed, About.com

Turkey kofta is perfect for those who are avoiding red meat or want a healthier alternative. Try this turkey kofta for a low fat main dish.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground turkey, or 1 lb fresh turkey, finely chopped
  • ½ red bell pepper, diced
  • ½ clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon onion, chopped

Preparation:

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a food processor combine the red bell pepper, garlic, pepper, cumin, and onion until thoroughly chopped and mixed.

Pour the veggie mixture into a large bowl and add turkey. Mix well.

Wet hands and form the mixture into balls, patties, or cigar-shaped pieces.

Place in oven and cook for twenty minutes.

Turkey kofta can also be cooked on a grill, either on skewers or alone, or pan fried for 8-10 minutes, turning halfway through cook time.
