For some hummus with some kick, try jalapeno hummus! If you're looking for heat, leave the seeds in, otherwise remove them for a milder kick start to your next party or get-together.
Ingredients:
- 1 can garbanzo beans/chickpeas (15 oz), drained
- 1 jalapeno pepper, chopped, seeds removed
- 1/4 cup tahini
- 2 tablespoons garlic
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Preparation:
In a blender or food processor, process beans, garlic, jalapeno pepper, and olive oil.
Add lemon, tahini, and salt and blend well. Hummus should be smooth and creamy. If needed, add 1 teaspoon at a time until desired consistency.
Place in bowl and serve with veggies, pita bread, or pita chips at room temperature. Hummus may also be stored in the refrigerator, covered.
