Super Easy Hazlenut Hummus

By Saad Fayed, About.com

I love hazlenut hummus - mainly because I love hazlenuts! This tahini- free version of hummus is perfect for those who don't care for tahini. The tahini is replaced with hazlenut spread, which is found in the peanut butter aisle in your supermarket. using hazlenut spread makes it super easy - no roasting hazlenuts at home!

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of chickpeas, rinsed and drained (save the liquid)
  • 1/3 cup of hazlenut spread, plus 1 tablespoon
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon parsley, finely chopped

Preparation:

Add hazlenut spread, chickpeas, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and parsley to blender or food processor and blend to a smooth hummus consistency.

If it is too thick, you can add 1 teaspoon of chickpea liquid or water at a time until you reach the desired consistency.

Serve warm with pita bread, crackers, or vegetables.
