Date Nut Bread

Date nut bread is perfect as a light dessert or even breakfast. Perfect with coffee, this date nut bread recipe is sure to please!

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 55 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups dates, finely chopped
  • 1 cup walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1 cup boiling water

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350 and start water to boil.

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Mix in egg and vanilla extract. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, mix together dates and walnuts. Pour boiling water over date and nut mixture. Set aside.

Grease loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray or shortening.

Add dry ingredient mixture to date-nut mixture. Mix well. Spoon into loaf pan.

Bake for 55 minutes to 1 hour.

Cool for 15 minutes. Serve with your favorite coffee or tea.
