Baked Quince

By , About.com Guide

Baked quinces are a great fall dessert. Quinces are like an apple or pear, with a little more tartness.

The quince is not a very popular fruit in the west, but can be found in many supermarkets.

Ingredients:

  • 4 quinces
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 cups sugar
  • 3 cups warm water

Preparation:

Peel, core and cut quinces in half. Place in 9x12 baking dish, flesh side up. Cover each quince half generously with butter. Sprinkle with sugar. Fill baking dish with water.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until quinces are a golden color and soft.

Allow to sit 15 minutes prior to serving.

Serve with ice cream, whipped cream or by itself.
