Question: How to Make Cinnamon Raisin Pita Bread?
I would like to add cinnamon and raisins to my pita bread dough. Can you tell me how to do this and how much I should add?
Answer: I have to applaud your creative ideas for the kitchen! Creativity shows that you truly have a passion for cooking and are having a good time doing it - two very important qualities.
Unfortunately, I do not recommend adding raisins to your pita bread. First, pita must be cooked at a very high temperature - at least 500 degrees F. This will scorch your raisins.
Second, the weight of the raisins will weigh down your raised pita rounds. Pita is a thin dough and anything heavy will not allow it to puff up properly during the cooking process.
You could, however, add a little cinnamon-sugar mixture in top of your rounds prior to baking. When you are ready to eat your pita bread, you can always stuff a few raisins inside with some butter for added flavor.
