Garlic Pita Chips

By , About.com Guide

My kids love pita chips and I love that they like them so much! They are a much healthier alternative to fried potato chips which are full of bad fat. These pita chips can be dipped in hummus or traditional favorites like french onion dip or ranch.

For your next snack, try these garlic pita chips. Take a platter and spread your favorite veggies and these hummus chips with a variety of dips. Definitely a crowd pleaser!

Ingredients:

  • 3 large loaves pita bread
  • 6 teaspoons olive oil
  • 2 small garlic cloves, crushed
  • coarse salt

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a small bowl combine crushed garlic and olive oil. Mix well and allow to sit for 2-4 minutes to allow the flavors to "marry" each other.

Take each pita loaf and cut into eight triangles (use a pizza cutter for easy, quick cuts). Brush the garlic mixture evenly over each side of the pita triangles. Sprinkle with kosher salt. Bake for 5-7 minutes. Eat alone or serve with choice of dip or sauce.
