Fried Liver and Onions Recipe

Fried liver and onions are a popular appetizer in Turkey. Learn how to make delicious fried liver onions with this simple recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 large onion, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 -2 lb liver (membrane removed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Preparation:

Saute onions in olive oil over medium heat. As onions begin to brown, add sugar and continue to saute until onions become soft.

Cut liver into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) and add to onions.

Cook on medium high heat for about 1 1/2-2 minutes each side, until done.

Serve immediately as an appetizer or with rice or french fries as a main course.
