Rice, Pilaf, and Couscous

Technically couscous is not a grain, it's more like a tiny pasta, but in the Middle East, couscous is treated more like a grain, much like rice. Pilaf is a rice dish with spices, meats, or veggies at to it. And well rice is rice - do I need to explain more?

The real question is what do these three things have in common? They are all fantastic side dishes. I really prefer rice, pilafs, and couscous to accompany poultry. They can truly bring out flavors in chicken that you wouldn't have tasted before!
