My kids love to carve pumpkins, just like every kid at Halloween. I enjoy seeing the end result -- a spooky face or goofy, jagged tooth smiling pumpkin, but I have to be honest here. I hate the mess. Maybe I have a sensory aversion to the texture of the "innards" of the pumpkin, but the gooey, slimy stuff that has to be scraped out grosses me out. I have four kids, so I am helping to scrape four pumpkins. I have thought of switching to craft pumpkins, but there really is no fun in that! Though it may sound like I don't like pumpkins, I just prefer to cook with them.
