Saad's Middle Eastern Food BlogAttention All Chocolate LoversChocolate Baklava is Here!My wife loves chocolate and she loves baklava. She orders it when we go out, but I really stick to traditional baklava when I make it home. There are no complaints, but I thought I would broaden my culinary spectrum and make some chocolate baklava for Mother's Day. (Yes, I know baklava is really no compensation for the childbirth labor my wife endured for hours, but a man has got to try!)I started in the Fayed Family Test Kitchen. Although my test kitchen is actually just the kitchen in my home (sorry to disappoint), when I am developing a new recipe, it converts into a bat cave-like atmosphere with cooking gadgets spread about. No, I don't wear a latex costume, but a cotton half apron that is equally as masculine. Got a mental picture yet? I tried about 5 times to get the recipe to perfection. My first one was awful - too much chocolate, too sweet, and well too disgusting. Even the sweets deprived neighbor children snubbed their noses. With each revision, it got better. Finally after the fifth attempt, it was perfect. Here is the easiest chocolate baklava recipe ever...it is absolutely delicious too!
