Saad's Middle Eastern Food BlogIt's Tea Time! Tea is much more popular in the Middle East than coffee. There are several flavors and ways to prepare tea, there are many possibilities! Chai is the Arabic word for tea, and it describes making a regular tea, unlike the chai you may find at your local coffeehouse. One of my favorite teas to brew is cinnamon tea. It's perfect for fall and winter, and who doesn't like cinnamon? Cinnamon tea is easy to brew and great with just about any dessert. Try this cinnamon tea recipe. Anise tea is also popular is the Middle East. Teas are sometimes given for medicinal purposes and anise tea is given to those with upset stomachs or babies with colic. It is flavorful and very soothing. Here is a simple anise tea recipe. Finjan erfeh is a very special type of tea. Many times certain types of tea are served for certain occasions - like finjan erfeh. Finjan erfeh is served to guests who have come to see a newborn baby. It has a bold flavor of cinnamon, ginger, anise, and cloves. Try this finjan erfeh recipe.
