Make Your Next BBQ Stylish with Kebobs

Thursday May 11, 2006
In the summer months, my family does a lot of grilling. In fact, I own a few grills - a gas grill and some charcoal ones. I like to cook different types of food on each. I think some foods like chicken and lamb do best on charcoal grills. Besides the usual burgers and hotdogs, I love to cook kebobs. Kebobs are pieces of meat that are skewered and grilled.

When preparing kebobs to grill, get a little creative! Use fresh veggies and even fruit on the skewers alonside the meat. Tomatoes, zucchini, green peppers, onions add flavor and magnificent color to a kebab. Fruits like pineapples and mangoes, although not Middle Eastern, do so well with chicken, I had to mention them.

Serve grilled kebabs directly on the skewer on top of a bed of rice with fresh veggies and pita. Or you can follow the entertaining tip of Cythia Rowley and place the skewers up right in a decorative bucket or tin filled with sand.
